Womens’ Leadership
Network (WLN)

The Women Leadership Network (WLN) is an innovative initiative aimed at amplifying the voices and leadership of women in the Israeli-Palestinian peacebuilding process. Rooted in the principles of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, WLN seeks to address the unique challenges faced by women in conflict zones, particularly within Israel and Palestine. The program focuses on strengthening the roles of women peacebuilders, equipping them with the tools and skills necessary to advocate for sustainable peace and gender-inclusive policies.
WLN leverages the power of collaboration among women from diverse backgrounds—Palestinians from the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT), Palestinian citizens of Israel (PCI), and Jewish Israelis. Through hybrid meetings, capacity-building workshops, mentorship, and international advocacy, WLN fosters continuous dialogue and knowledge exchange. By integrating women’s perspectives into the broader peace process, WLN ensures that their contributions and insights are central to conflict resolution and political solutions in the region.

Objectives

“Trauma in Peacebuilding” was conceived after a January 2024 ALLMEP member NGOs’ survey found that such trauma services for members’ staff and beneficiaries should be the highest priority moving forward. However, many members lack the capacity, resources, or tools necessary to address ongoing trauma.

Strengthen Women’s Leadership and Advocacy Skills: Equip 12 selected womenleaders with essential skills in negotiation, leadership, and advocacy through bi-monthly hybrid meetings and a 5-day international workshop. This enhances their ability to contribute meaningfully to peacebuilding efforts.
Promote Gender-Inclusive Peacebuilding: Advocate for the integration of women’s voices and experiences into peacebuilding strategies. This includes the development of a guide highlighting the contributions of women to peace processes and offering actionable policy recommendations.
Facilitate International Advocacy: Enable women leaders to engage in international advocacy trips to key political capitals (Washington D.C., Brussels, Berlin, and London). Participants will meet with diplomats and policymakers to raise awareness of the need for gender-focused approaches in peacebuilding.
Provide Ongoing Mentorship: Pair participants with experienced mentors from peacebuilding organizations and academia to provide continuous guidance and support.
The mentorship will include both one-on-one and group sessions, fostering peer learning and collaborative problem-solving.
Increase Visibility of Women’s Contributions: Raise regional and international awareness of women’s roles in peacebuilding through the development of a comprehensive guide.
This guide will be shared with government stakeholders, international organizations, and civil society groups to advocate for the inclusion of women in peace processes.

For the Future: Women in Peacebuilding

ALLMEP is releasing an educational short film in early 2025 titled, “For the Future: Women in Peacebuilding”. The film highlights the critical role of women peacebuilders working on the ground in Israel and Palestine to secure lasting peace and a more just, equal, and secure future for all those living in the region. Produced in the fall of 2024, the film reflects on the year of violence and war, the disproportionate impact of violent conflict on women and girls.

2025 marks the 25th anniversary year of UN Security Resolution 1325. UNSCR 1325 specifically calls for the adoption of a gender perspective to consider the special needs of women and girls during conflict, repatriation and resettlement, rehabilitation, reintegration, and post-conflict reconstruction. It was also the first United Nations Security Council resolution to specifically mention the impact of conflict on women.

The resolution has since become an organizing framework for the women, peace, and security agenda, which focuses on advancing the components of Resolution 1325.
