Jason Greenblatt, Special Representative for International Negotiations, visited an Arab-Jewish soccer club in August, bringing attention for the club’s fight against racism and discrimination.
Greenblatt visited a practice to watch club members play and to discuss the bonds the Jewish and Arab players have made. By uniting through sport, he hopes that the club can shine a light of hope for peace throughout the region.
In a video by the U.S. Embassy Tel Aviv, Greenblatt stated:
In my mind, a peace agreement will not be successful the day after until the societies reconnect and this is a perfect example of societies connecting and I applaud their efforts. I applaud the people who funded it and who started it and especially the kids who are doing it.
