ALLMEP Members and Staff Show Support at “Time is Now” Event in Tel Aviv

On July 1, more than six thousand Israeli and Palestinian peacebuilders convened at the Time is Now event at the Menora Mivtachim Arena in Tel Aviv. 

This event, dedicated to promoting peace, gathered peacebuilders of all ages and backgrounds, united in their call to end the war, the release of all hostages and prisoners, a diplomatic peace agreement, and to demand that peace is the only way forward. This event gathered many ALLMEP members, representatives from civil society, and activists demonstrating an overwhelming commitment to an alternative to continued conflict.

This event included a performance by singer and peace activist, Noa (Achinoam Nini), remarks from historian and Professor, Yuval Noah Harari, in addition to speeches delivered by Israeli and Palestinian peace activists Maoz Inon, Aziz Abu Sarah, Hamze Awawde, Reem Hajajri, and many others. 

In reference to the event, ALLMEP’s Executive Director John Lyndon, explained “It was wonderful to have so many ALLMEP team members, member organisations, friends and partners all gathered in the same place. Calling for the same thing. And at a scale, during wartime, that I’ve never seen before. More than anything, it was inspiring to see the inherent power of this coalition made real. Israelis and Palestinians. Arabs and Jews. Activists and authors. Locals and internationals. Gathered at scale, and forming a community of purpose at an event that– as powerful as it was– can be the start of something, rather than an end in itself.” 

Time is Now demonstrates the tireless work of thousands of Israeli and Palestinian peacebuilders and countless civil society organizations insisting that a future in the region be built upon cooperation, justice, equality and peace.
