I live in Switzerland, this safe country where every building includes a nuclear shelter, commonly used also as a pantry. When I need to access my stash of tomato sauce, I use a single key to easily open four different types of doors: my flat’s, the corridor’s, the main entrance’s and the basement’s. How convenient! My work is more complex: it is about connecting people whether Israelis and Palestinians or people in Switzerland involved in disputes. During one of my trips to Israel, the sight of the twisted bridges next to the Supreme Court in Jerusalem reminded me of my own sinuous course. I left the path of law studies to become a conflict mediator. Today, instead of choosing sides, I much prefer the perspective of opening doors and pacifying situations.
