Following the Knesset’s vote to annul the reasonableness clause, the protest movement in Israel has demonstrated its resilience and strength in the face of a terribly concerning legislative pattern that also threatens our entire community. At the same time, questions have been raised about the role of the peacebuilding community, the anti-occupation bloc, and the level of engagement of Palestinian citizens in the protest movement.

We understand that some might prefer to downplay the linkages between this legislative coup, the occupation, and equality inside Israel. Yet all of those issues have been put on the table by those who are pushing the legislation, as well as by significant numbers of the protesters. Many in our network tell us that they see a once-in-a-generation opportunity, where large segments of the Israeli public are suddenly more engaged and open to our analysis on the conflict.
