Digital Storytelling
At the Alliance for Middle East Peace, we believe that storytelling is a powerful tool for change. In a region where voices often clash, sharing personal stories can foster understanding, compassion, and connection.
Our mission is to create a platform where diverse narratives come together to illuminate shared experiences and inspire collaborative solutions. Through workshops, community events, and digital campaigns, we harness the power of storytelling to educate, engage, and empower.
Stories from the Field
Mid East Storytellers was created on the premise that stories are a powerful medium for amplifying the values of the peacebuilding community. Launched in 2020, each cohort was mentored and trained by international experts in storytelling, digital marketing, and video production. A committee of experts selected three stories to be featured and awarded a prize for their work.
A continuation of this project was produced in Fall of 2024. The educational short film, For the Future, profiles women peace activists working through the war in Gaza.
Stories from the Field
Since the attacks of October 7th, and the devastating war that has followed, Israelis and Palestinians have been immersed in some of the most horrific events this region has ever seen. There has been a loss of life and level of trauma and human tragedy that is far beyond anything in ALLMEP’s twenty-year history, and it has touched every member of our community.
The violence, unprecedented loss of life, destruction of property, and the growing humanitarian disaster in Gaza has shaken our community to its core, and today fear stalks the land. Settler violence has erupted across the West Bank, there has been a marked increase in the policing of speech and activism, while scarcity of food and resources has impacted the most impoverished communities in the region, and Islamophobia and Antisemitism have increased around the globe. In the midst of this immense trauma, suffering, grief, and pain, along with a severe lack of government accountability, Palestinian and Israeli peace activists are fighting to hold their communities together.
Groundwork is a podcast about activists working in Israel and Palestine. Each week, we’ll talk to activists working on the ground everyday to demand justice, peace, and equality for all, end the occupation, and stop the bloodshed. Join hosts Sally Abed, of Standing Together, and activist and comedian, Noam Shuster, as we return for a third season.
For the Future: Women in Peacebuilding
ALLMEP is releasing an educational short film in early 2025 titled, “For the Future: Women in Peacebuilding”. The film highlights the critical role of women peacebuilders working on the ground in Israel and Palestine to secure lasting peace and a more just, equal, and secure future for all those living in the region. Produced in the fall of 2024, the film reflects on the year of violence and war, the disproportionate impact of violent conflict on women and girls.
2025 marks the 25th anniversary year of UN Security Resolution 1325. UNSCR 1325 specifically calls for the adoption of a gender perspective to consider the special needs of women and girls during conflict, repatriation and resettlement, rehabilitation, reintegration, and post-conflict reconstruction. It was also the first United Nations Security Council resolution to specifically mention the impact of conflict on women.
The resolution has since become an organizing framework for the women, peace, and security agenda, which focuses on advancing the components of Resolution 1325.
