The Initiative for National Security and Human Rights (INSHR)

Description

The Initiative for National Security and Human Rights (INSHR) was established in order to change the common perception in the Israeli public opinion according to which protecting human rights and striving for a political solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict are detrimental to state security (a misconception found in an opinion poll we undertook); and to promote the perception that upholding human rights and promoting the two-state solution in fact bolster security. Such a rights and peace-security linkage has been validated in extensive research and is backed by many expert opinions. INSHR is reframing the language of peace and human rights to also include considerations and answers regarding fears over security threats and promoting the massive strand of professional knowledge demonstrating that upholding human rights and securing political solutions (or peace agreements) contribute to national security.
