ALLMEP Members Rally to Support Their Communities During this Month of Ramadan

As Palestinian Muslims observed the holy month of Ramadan this year, many of our member organizations continued their tradition of supporting those in need in their communities. Below are just a handful of examples of the many Ramadan activities our members organized and participated in this month.

Hand in Hand Schools – Jerusalem brought Israeli and Palestinian families together for a heartfelt community Iftar, sharing a meal that symbolized unity and understanding. In the spirit of generosity, the community also raised thousands of shekels to purchase food for 300 care packages. Hand in Hand students and parents dedicated days to assembling these boxes, ensuring that both Jewish and Palestinian families in need received support during this meaningful time.

Earlier this month, ALLMEP member, Standing Together, stood in solidarity with Palestinians from East Jerusalem on their way home through the Qalandiya checkpoint. Members of Standing Together handed out tea and dates to people stuck in massive traffic, breaking their fast from their cars.

Recognizing Ramadan, Purim, and Lent, ALLMEP member Interfaith Encounter Association gathered a group of Jewish, Muslim, and Christian volunteers to prepare food packages to be distributed to families from different communities across Jerusalem. This event emphasized the core values of Ramadan (with the commandment of Zakat), Purim (with the commandment of Matanot Laevionim), and the Lent period.

Many ALLMEP members, including Rabbis for Human Rights, Hand in Hand, This is Not an Ulpan, Standing Together, Combatants for Peace, and Achvat Amim, hosted a Ramadan Aid Campaign. This campaign focused on packaging food boxes for Palestinian communities in Area C of the West Bank—communities enduring military occupation, ongoing settler violence, and the constant threat of forced displacement.

Additionally, members of Parents Circle – Families Forum delivered over 450 aid packages to Palestinian families ahead of Ramadan.

ALLMEP remains steadfast in its commitment to peace, cooperation, justice, and equality for all in Israel and Palestine. Through impactful initiatives like Ramadan food drives and community Iftar meals, civil society is driving meaningful change and helping shape a more just, inclusive, and peaceful future for the region.
