ALLMEP is hiring a part-time Research Assistant

The Alliance for Middle East Peace (ALLMEP) seeks a Research and Writing Assistant to support our growing research department. This part-time, paid position (10–20 hours/week) is ideal for a highly qualified graduate student with strong methodological training and an interest in Israeli-Palestinian peacebuilding, public opinion, and conflict resolution.

The Research and Writing Assistant will work closely with ALLMEP’s research team on a range of projects, including data collection, knowledge management, content support for the website, and the development of articles, policy briefs, and digital materials. This role requires someone with excellent English writing skills, proficiency in either Hebrew or Arabic, and availability during U.S. working hours.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the research team in collecting, organizing, and updating data and research related to Israeli-Palestinian peacebuilding, public opinion, and the broader conflict resolution field—including updating internal systems and curating content for ALLMEP’s website and platforms.
  • Conduct background research and literature reviews for emerging projects using qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Contribute to the development of written outputs such as articles, policy briefs, position papers, and digital content.
  • Keep up to date with research tools and emerging technologies—especially AI—that could improve or streamline research and data analysis.
  • Meeting regularly (Zoom) with team to coordinate and develop concepts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current graduate student, ideally in political science, conflict resolution, public policy, Middle Eastern studies, or a related field.
  • Availability to work 10–20 hours per week, with overlapping hours with the U.S.-based research team.
  • Strong methodological training, including both qualitative and quantitative research approaches.
  • Familiarity with survey software (e.g., Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey), Excel, and other data tools; knowledge of additional tools (e.g., NVivo, Tableau, R, or Python) is a plus.
  • Superb written and oral communication skills with the ability to write concisely and clearly for non-academic audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Interest in Israeli-Palestinian peacebuilding, the conflict, and conflict resolution.

OTHER DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of Israel/Palestinian history, politics, and society, familiarity with conflict resolution, and/or experience working in the region.
  • Proficiency in either Hebrew or Arabic. 
  • Awareness of recent developments in AI and how these tools can be used to  support research. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

There are no extraordinary physical requirements for the performance of the essential functions of this position. ALLMEP will make reasonable accommodation to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

POSITION LOCATION

Remote. Must be available to work during U.S. business hours to coordinate with the research team.

SALARY & HOURS

The position assumes a typical commitment of between 10-20 hours per week starting immediately with compensation of $700 – $1,400 per month based on hours worked.
