The Jewish Council for Public Affairs (JCPA) adopted a resolution supporting the creation of the proposed International Fund for Israeli-Palestinian Peace. The resolution was authored and introduced at JCPA’s annual conference in April by the Orthodox Union and the Union for Reform Judaism in a rare partnership between the two Jewish movements.
JCPA’s support of the International Fund exemplifies their ideals of working towards understanding and peace between Israelis and Palestinians. The resolution falls directly in line with this hope as it supports the International Fund with the goal of promoting “…contact, cooperation, dialogue, shared community building, peaceful coexistence, joint economic development, and reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians…” through economic development, civil society projects, and other initiatives working towards a peaceful future for the region.
In a statement concerning the adoption of this resolution, JCPA’s president and CEO David Bernstein stated:
Especially during this time of conflict, and lack of peace negotiations, the Jewish community relations field is committed to promoting people to people initiatives, which have helped other communities in conflict to resolve differences.
