PRESS RELEASE: From ALLMEP member, the Freddie Krivine Initiative (FKI)

Last week FKI was informed that they have been honoured with second place in the Israeli Speaker of the Parliament – Quality of Life Prize 2022 – the prize-giving ceremony is to be held on June 28th at the Knesset- the prize recognizes FKI’s work to break down stereotypes and hatred by bringing together Jewish and Arab children through the sport of tennis.

“I am proud and delighted that the Freddie Krivine Initiative is now in the spotlight. This award shows how helping Jewish and Arab youngsters connect is valued at the highest level, being selected by the Speaker of the Knesset himself for one of his three chosen charities in 2022,” said FKI founder, Jane Krivine.

Over the past twenty years, the Freddie Krivine Initiative (FKI), set up by the past President of the Israeli Tennis Association, has worked with at-risk Arab, Bedouin and Druze youth in some of the most disadvantaged towns in Israel to use the power of sport to transform the lives of children and young people, and bring together Jewish and Arab children.

“I was a small child when FKI came to Faradis to bring Jews and Arabs together through tennis, it changed my life, and I believe it can change the lives of many more children,” said Ibrahim Fahmana, now a qualified and employed tennis coach who started at the age of 8 in the FKI’s programs.

FKI are currently planning new projects including an upcoming Jewish-Arab teen girl summer camps, a twinning programs between Jewish and Arab tennis clubs in the center north, and a new program launched in the village of Ein Hawd.
