The Middle East Children’s Institute (MECI) mission is to address the educational, psychosocial health, and other basic humanitarian needs of children and women in impoverished and war-torn areas of the Middle East. MECI’s innovative, child-centered community development model has transformed communities through a three-pillared approach: (1) children’s health and education; (2) women’s empowerment; (3) community development. By creating safe havens for learning, healing and development, MECI empowers individuals most affected by conflict to become catalysts of positive change and agents for peace in their own communities. Since 2007 MECI has reached over 25,000 children .It currently operates in 54 schools across Jordan and Palestine.
